Boating Event Awards

Trophies, plaques and medals for boat racing, boat parades, poker runs, regattas, paddle races and boat shows

Short answer

Boating events award very different things. A drag boat race awards class winners from an elimination ladder, a lighted boat parade awards best lights and best theme, a poker run awards the best and worst hands, a regatta awards series places and a perpetual, and a boat show awards best in show. This page is the map: pick the event you run and you will find a page on what it usually awards, how many pieces to plan for and what to send us. Every award is designed from your logo and event artwork, in acrylic, wood and metal, with no minimum order and a proof you approve before anything is produced.

One club, several kinds of events

The same boating club, marina or lake town often runs more than one event a year: a race weekend in summer, a poker run on a holiday weekend, a lighted parade in December and an annual banquet. Each event needs a different set of awards, but they can share a look so that the club’s awards are recognizable from one event to the next.

For power boat racing in general, including offshore and circuit racing, start with power boat racing trophies. For design ideas that suit a race weekend on the water, see power boat racing trophy ideas.

The photo shows a national championship award we made for a powerboat racing association: a checkered-flag backing with the association logos and a red class panel, layered in acrylic on a black base. More sports and recognition topics are collected in the Recognition Library.

What boating awards have in common

Most boating awards are presented outdoors, on a dock, a beach or a lawn by the water, and many are carried home in a boat or a truck. Acrylic is light and does not shatter if it is knocked over, which is why most of our boating awards are acrylic, sometimes on a wood or metal base.

The shape is where boating awards stand apart. Acrylic can be cut to the outline of a hull, a sail, a paddle, a wave or your club burgee, then printed in full color. The event name, class and year sit on a plate or a lower panel, so the same design can carry many classes or categories.

If a club runs several events, one family of designs helps: the same base and layout for every event, with the shape or color changing. For a recurring award that gains a name each year, see perpetual trophies.

What to send us

  • The club or event logo, and any sponsor logos that belong on the awards.
  • The award list: classes or categories, places and how many of each.
  • The date of the event or banquet where the awards are presented.
  • Any photo of past awards you want the new ones to match.

We send a design proof for the full set before anything is produced. For timing, work back from the date the awards must be in hand and contact us for the current lead time; how far in advance to order explains how to plan it.

Boating Event Awards FAQs

What kinds of boating events do you make awards for?

Power boat, drag boat, hydroplane and outboard racing, jet ski racing, boat parades, poker runs, sailing regattas and yacht club awards, rowing, dragon boat, canoe and kayak races, raingutter regattas, cardboard boat races, boat shows and fishing tournaments.

Can an award be shaped like a boat?

Yes. Acrylic can be cut to the outline of a hull, a sail, a paddle or your club logo, then printed in full color. We work from your artwork or design it from a description.

Are acrylic awards a good fit for events on the water?

Acrylic is light and does not shatter if it is dropped, which suits presentations on a dock or a beach and awards that travel home in a boat. Keep any award out of standing water and wipe it dry if it gets wet.

Can one club use the same design for several events?

Yes. Many clubs keep one base and layout and change the shape, color or event name, so the awards from each event look related.

Is there a minimum order?

No. A single perpetual plate and a full set of class awards follow the same process.

Do you make medals as well as trophies?

Yes. Medals suit paddle races and regattas with many finishers. See the rowing and dragon boat medals page and our medallion awards.
