Poker Run Trophies
Best hand, worst hand and the rest of the awards for boat, motorcycle, ATV, UTV and car poker runs
Short answer
A poker run usually awards the best hand and the worst hand, and many runs add a few more: second and third best hand, best dressed crew or rider, furthest traveled and largest group. Some runs also pay a cash prize, but the trophy is what the winner keeps and puts on the shelf or the boat. We design poker run trophies from your run logo, cut and printed in acrylic, wood and metal, shaped like a card, a chip, a boat or a bike if you want, with no minimum order and a proof you approve before anything is produced.

A run, not a race
At a poker run, boats, bikes or vehicles visit a set of stops, collect a card or a sealed envelope at each one, and the best poker hand at the end wins. On the water the stops are marinas, waterfront restaurants and docks along a lake or a coast. On land they are bars, dealerships, diners and parks along a route.
Because the hand is decided by the cards, not the clock, a poker run rewards showing up and finishing, not going fast. That makes the awards easy to plan: the hands decide the main trophies, and everything else is about the people who came. We suggest leaving speed out of the award list entirely. Many runs share busy water or public roads, and an award for the fastest boat or bike sends the wrong message.
Most runs are fundraisers for a charity, a club or a local cause, and the awards are often presented by sponsors. For how we build awards from your own artwork, see custom awards. Poker runs sit with the other on-the-water events in boating event awards.
What a poker run awards

Best hand
The headline award. Many runs give first, second and third best hand, so the top three hands each go home with something.

Worst hand
The award everyone remembers. A low hand that beats nobody still gets a trophy and the loudest cheer of the night.

Best dressed crew or rider
Costumes, themed boats and decorated bikes. A judged award that has nothing to do with the cards.

Furthest traveled and largest group
Recognition for the boat that trailered in from out of state, or the club that brought the most entries.

Sponsor-presented awards
A stop sponsor or the title sponsor presents an award, and a plaque thanks the sponsor afterward.

Participant pieces
A medallion, pin or dash plaque for every entry, so the run becomes something people collect year after year.
An award list you can copy
A typical list for a single-day run with an evening party at the last stop. Trim it to fit the size of your run.
| Award | How many | What goes on it |
|---|---|---|
| Best hand | 1 to 3 places | Run name, year, “Best Hand” and the place, entrant or boat name |
| Worst hand | 1 | Run name, year, “Worst Hand,” entrant or boat name |
| Best dressed crew or rider | 1 | Run name, year, award, boat or rider name |
| Furthest traveled | 1 | Run name, year, award, name and hometown |
| Largest group or club | 1 | Run name, year, award, club name |
| Sponsor thank-yous | 1 per sponsor | Sponsor name and a line of thanks |
| Participant pieces | 1 per entry | Run name, year and the logo |
If the run is new, start smaller: best hand, worst hand and one fun award. For how the cards, stops and ties work, see poker run rules.
Boat, motorcycle, ATV, car or golf cart
Boat poker runs are the classic version. Boats run between waterfront stops on a lake, a river or a coast, and the party is usually at a marina or a waterfront restaurant. A boat shape cut into the award, or the lake outline with the stops marked, makes a design entrants recognize at a glance.
Motorcycle poker runs follow a road route between bars, dealerships and diners, often as a charity ride organized by a club. A bike silhouette or the club patch carries the design. Riders often want something small enough to carry home, so a dash plaque or pin works well for participants.
ATV, UTV and dirt bike runs follow trails, so stops are often checkpoints in the woods or at a campground. Awards tend to be presented at the trailhead or the campground at the end of the day.
Car, Jeep and golf cart runs follow the same format on streets or inside a community. Golf cart runs in particular lean toward the fun awards: best decorated cart, best costume, best team name.
If your club runs other events through the year, car club awards covers year-round club recognition.
Design ideas that fit the theme
Poker gives you a ready-made design language. The award can be cut in the shape of a playing card, a fanned hand, a poker chip or a single ace, then printed with your run logo, the year and the award. A boat, bike or vehicle can sit in front of or behind the card.
Lake Run 2026
Best Hand
Full House
Writing the winning hand on the award is a nice touch. The name of the hand, such as “Full House” or “Four of a Kind,” is easy to add on the plate once the hands are read. If you want the plates added after the run, tell us and we will lay out the award with space for them.
Keep the same design every year with only the year changing, and repeat entrants build a collection. When this year’s design is approved, you can reorder it next year with the new date.
Cash prizes, raffles and the rules
Some runs pay a cash prize for the best hand alongside the trophy, and many sell extra cards or raffle tickets to raise money. Rules on games of chance and raffles vary by state and sometimes by county, especially for charity events. Check what applies where you run the event before you advertise prizes. We make the awards; we do not give legal advice.
Whatever the prize, the trophy is what people keep. A cash prize is spent by the following week. A trophy with the run name and the winning hand stays on a shelf or in a boat cabin for years, and it advertises your run to everyone who sees it.
What to send us
- The run logo, and the charity or club logo if it is a fundraiser.
- The award list: hands, places and any fun or judged awards.
- Sponsor logos for any sponsor-presented award or thank-you plaque.
- The number of entries you expect, if you want participant pieces.
- The date of the run and where the awards will be presented.
We send a design proof for the full set before anything is produced. For timing, work back from the date the awards must be in hand and contact us for the current lead time against that date; how far in advance to order explains how to plan it.
Poker Run Trophies FAQs
What awards does a poker run give?
Best hand and worst hand are standard. Many runs also award second and third best hand, best dressed crew or rider, furthest traveled and largest group, plus sponsor thank-yous.
Should a poker run have a fastest boat or bike award?
We suggest not. A poker run is a ride or a cruise, not a race, and it often shares busy water or public roads. Award the hands and the people instead of speed.
Can the trophy be shaped like a playing card or a boat?
Yes. Acrylic can be cut to a card, a chip, a fanned hand, a boat, a bike or your run logo, then printed in full color. We work from your artwork.
Can the winning hand go on the trophy?
Yes. Tell us the hands once they are read, or we can lay out the award with space for a plate added after the run.
Do you make awards for motorcycle and ATV poker runs?
Yes. The format is the same on land or water. Only the design changes: a bike, a trail map or a club patch instead of a boat.
Is there a minimum order?
No. A single best hand trophy is as normal an order as a full set of awards and participant pieces.
