Dirt Track Racing Trophies

Feature winner trophies for every race night, and the banquet awards that close the season

Short answer

A weekly dirt oval needs two kinds of trophies. Through the season, every division’s feature winner gets one on the front stretch, race night after race night. At the end of the year, the banquet adds point champions for each division, top-five or top-ten point finishers, rookie of the year, sportsmanship, hard luck, best appearing car, crew chief and track employee of the year. Semi-custom awards with your track logo handle the weekly volume, and the banquet pieces are built to match.

First, second and third place awards on wood bases with printed acrylic faces and cut metal numerals

One look all season

Weekly feature trophies are a repeat order, and they should look the same in May as in September. Semi-custom awards suit this well: your track artwork prints on a stock HD or WB Series body, so the design is set once and reordered as often as you need, with the division name changed for each.

At the banquet, the point champions get a larger and layered version of the same artwork. Drivers who won features all year then see the same family of award on the head table, which makes the championship feel like the end of the same season rather than a separate event.

What a dirt track orders over a season

Custom acrylic award icon

Feature winners

One per division per race night. HD Series with the track logo and the division on the footer.

Wall plaque icon

Heat and dash winners

Some tracks award heat races or a trophy dash as well. Plate awards keep these smaller than the feature trophy.

Layered award icon

Point champions

One per division at the banquet. Layered acrylic in the season’s artwork, with the champion’s name and car number.

Fully custom award icon

Points top five or top ten

Second place down in each division, stepping down in size from the champion.

Medallion award icon

Rookie, sportsmanship, hard luck

The category awards a track office chooses, plus best appearing car and crew chief.

Pin and commemorative award icon

Track employee of the year

For the flagger, pit steward, scorer or concession volunteer who made every race night happen.

Counting weekly feature trophies

The weekly order is simple arithmetic: divisions times race nights, plus a few spares for rainouts that become doubleheaders and specials with extra divisions.

Many tracks order the season’s feature trophies in two or three batches rather than all at once, because the schedule changes. Since the design is set and you approved the proof before the first order, each later batch matches.

The banquet award list

Dirt track banquets tend to give the same groups of awards. Adjust the count to your divisions:

Points 2nd to 5th, or to 10th4 to 9 per divisionSame artwork, stepping down
Rookie of the year1 per division or 1 overallDecided on points among first-year drivers, or by the track
Most feature wins1 per divisionOptional where the champion did not also win the most
Sportsmanship1Often voted by drivers

Best appearing car1 or 1 per divisionJudged at the track during the season
Crew chief of the year1Presented to the crew member, not the driver
Track employee or official of the year1Chosen by the track office

Racing banquet award categories explains these and more, including hard charger and iron man. Points championship awards covers ties and minimum-starts rules.

Wording for feature and championship trophies

Feature trophies are made before the race, so they carry the track, division and season but no name or date. Banquet awards carry the name, because by then the standings are final.

If a division has a sponsor, add the sponsor’s logo to every feature trophy in that division for the season, and present them with a sponsor plaque at the banquet. Sponsor-presented awards covers how tracks get sponsors on stage to hand them out.

Other oval racing and what to send

Sprint cars, quarter midgets and flat track have their own pages with class-specific ideas: sprint car racing trophies, quarter midget racing trophies and flat track racing trophies. A track champion’s name can also go on a perpetual that hangs in the track office.

  • Your track logo and any division sponsor logos.
  • The division list and the race schedule, so we can count feature trophies.
  • For the banquet: final points by division and the special award winners.

Dirt Track Racing Trophies FAQs

How many feature trophies does a weekly dirt track need?

Multiply divisions by race nights and add a few spares. Five divisions over a typical season can mean eighty to ninety feature trophies before the banquet.

Can we order feature trophies in batches through the season?

Yes. Once the design is approved it can be reordered as often as you need, and each batch matches the last.

Should feature trophies have the winner’s name on them?

Usually not. They are presented on the front stretch minutes after the race, so they carry the track, division and season only.

Can the banquet awards match the weekly trophies?

Yes. The point champions get a larger, layered version of the same track artwork, so the whole season looks like one set.

Is there a minimum order for a small track?

No. A track with two divisions orders the same way as one with eight.

Can division sponsors appear on the trophies?

Yes. Sponsor logos print in full color and can appear on every trophy in the division they sponsor.
