Gymnastics Medals & Trophies
Meet medals by apparatus, level and age division, all-around and team awards, and the club’s season-end night
Short answer
A gymnastics meet awards each apparatus and the all-around, separately for every level and every age division within a level, so the medal count is large and the order has to be right before the first session starts. Medals carry the apparatus places; trophies go to all-around and team winners. We make custom acrylic medals cut to the shape of your meet or club logo and printed in full color, and design the trophies in the same artwork. There is no minimum, and a proof of the medal design comes to you for approval before production.

A meet medal that belongs to your meet
Gymnasts keep their medals, and they compare them. A medal cut in the outline of a leaping gymnast, a beam or the meet logo is the one that ends up on the medal hanger in front.
Our medallion awards are cut to any shape and printed in full color, so the meet artwork goes on as it is. Each apparatus can share one design in a different colorway, or carry a small apparatus symbol, while the shape stays the same across the set.
Trophies are kept for the awards that count the whole day: all-around champions and team placings. Those can be fully custom awards in the same artwork.
Gymnastics awards by type

Apparatus medals
Places on each event: vault, bars, beam and floor for women’s programs, and six events for men’s programs.

All-around
The combined score across every apparatus. Usually a trophy for the winner and medals for the places below.

Team awards
Team placings at each level, on the top scores per event. A plaque or trophy the club takes home.

Ties and spares
Scores tie often, and tied gymnasts usually share the place. Order spares of each place so nobody waits.

Club season awards
Gymnast of the year by level, most improved, new skill of the year, and a coach’s award.

Meet pins
A small pin from each meet for gymnasts to collect on a backpack or a lanyard.
Counting medals for a gymnastics meet
Count per session. Each session is a level and a group of age divisions; each division places every apparatus and the all-around. Then multiply by the places you award. Gymnastics meets often medal deeper than other sports, and the younger levels sometimes give a medal or ribbon to every competitor.
| Decision | Typical choice | Effect on the count |
|---|---|---|
| Apparatus | Four events for women’s programs, six for men’s | One set of places per event |
| All-around | Placed separately from the events | One more set per division |
| Levels | Several levels across the meet | Each level repeats the full set |
| Age divisions | Splits within each level by age | Each division repeats it again |
| Places awarded | Top three, or deeper at larger meets | The multiplier on all of the above |
| Ties | Tied scores share the place | Order spares of each place |
Keep the level and the age division off the medal. Print the meet, the apparatus or a symbol for it, and the place, and the same medal serves every session.
Every-gymnast medals at the younger levels
At beginner and developmental levels, many meets give every gymnast a medal or a ribbon on each event, with places on top for the higher scores. A participant medal in the same shape, printed with the meet and the year instead of a place, keeps that clear. Participation awards looks at when an award for everyone works and when it waters down the earned ones.

The club’s own year-end awards
A club banquet recognizes things a meet does not score: a gymnast who moved up a level, a first clean routine on beam, the best teammate in the gym. Give each level its own gymnast of the year, and make sure recreational and team programs are both on the list. Sports award categories has names to adapt.
Clubs that keep a board of level champions or a returning award for the top all-around score each season can use a perpetual trophy with a plate per year. Cheer programs sharing the gym are on cheer trophies.
What to send us
- The meet or club name and logo.
- The session schedule: levels, age divisions and the apparatus contested.
- The places awarded on events and all-around, and any participant medals.
- Team awards and trophies wanted, and names for club season awards.
- The date the awards must be in hand, which is before the first session.
We send a design proof and you approve it before anything is produced. Work back from your meet date and contact us for the current lead time; how far in advance to order helps with the planning. Swim and track meets are in the Recognition Library.
Gymnastics Medals & Trophies FAQs
How many medals does a gymnastics meet need?
For each level and age division, multiply the apparatus plus the all-around by the places you award, then add participant medals and spares for ties.
Do gymnasts with tied scores get the same medal?
Commonly yes, they share the place. That is why meets order a few spare medals of each place.
Should the level be printed on the medal?
Usually not. A medal with the meet, the apparatus and the place serves every level and age division, which keeps the order simple.
Can each apparatus have its own medal?
Yes. Keep the same shape and change the colorway or add an apparatus symbol, so the set still reads as one meet.
Are trophies or medals better for all-around winners?
Many meets give the all-around winner a trophy and medal the places below. Either works; it depends on how many sessions you run.
Can a gymnastics medal be cut to our logo?
Yes. We cut the acrylic to the outline of your club or meet logo, print it in full color and fit it to a neck ribbon.
